This is the option of a loop walk or a one way all the way to Bonifacio. You will need to park at HERMITAGE DE LA TRINITÉ. Heading south, turn right after the CAMPING DE LA TRINITE and take the narrow lane that climbs to the chapel. From the HERMITAGE you have two options, either a circular walk or a walk linking to STRADA VECCHIA at the PLAGE DE PARAGAN.
A good loop walk around a wild stretch of coast, you’ll enjoy this walk for the good views and the sense of away from it all just a short hop from the bustle of Bonifacio.

LOOP WALK 3h00/ 8km / +/-200m
- Hermitage (to Capo di Feno lighthouse) 1h15 / 3.5km
With your back to the Hermitage chapel facing the sea, head right up the cement road towards a dusty clearing, head off to the left (signed SENTIERS DE FENU with a map further into the clearing) and follow the trail, initially through woodland then out into the open on an undulating path. After 20 minutes a path comes in from your right from BOCCA ARABIA, keep straight on and after a further 10 minutes, the path goes through a dry stone wall. The path is relatively easy to follow but there are few posts – to avoid erosion some fences block older paths. You are heading towards the lighthouse and headland at CAPO DI FENU. The views open out after the wall, with views initially north towards TONNARA and STAGNOLU, before following a saddle with views to your left towards BONIFACIO. As the path drops down to the right of the ridge, the view opens up a little to the rocky coast at CAPO DI FENU, from here the cairned coastal path heads north to TONNARA. You are heading left, south, so you need to take a path approx 200m before the path hits the coast – at the level of the map. You come off the larger path (just prior to another wooden fence blocking the old path and at the level of the map on the right) and head sharp left, up through the maquis between two hillocks, as you drop down after another 200m you see path to your right, the lighthouse FEU DE FENU is accessible on a gently climbing path on your right.
- Capu di Fenu (to Plage de Paragan) 1h30 / 3.5km
Retrace your steps to the main path. Continue right. The path more or less hugs the coast climbing and falling from time to time. After 500m, you enter into a walled garden with a water trough and a water channel running through – the path takes a distinct right here across the channel, and climbs up through the rocks again, then following (more or less) the coast again. You may see goats hidden in the rocks. There are some good picnic spots in creeks along the coast, the first has a CONSERVATOIRE DU LITTORAL sign and is reached after around 20 minutes.
The walk onward is relatively easy underfoot until it climbs steeply above CALA DI FRATI – the path which is before now pretty distinct, loses itself in rocks around a rocky knoll, the path becomes a bit of a scamble. To find your way you are heading across the rocks diagonally, up to two juniper bushes ahead of you, where you should find and regain an easier trail again. The path after 2h30 passes a stone building against the coast. A path soon heads left back up to the HERMITAGE.
Pass these and you continue on to CALA DI PARAGAN beach to join the STRADA VECCHIA walk. (See below).
To return to the Hermitage de la Trinité, turn left climbing through the maquis between wind sculptured boulders, you reach a lane, head straight up the lane towards the HERMITAGE chapel and your car.
WALK TO BONIFACIO
- Hermitage turning (to Plage de Paragan)0h20 / 0.5km
You head straight on at the junction heading along behind the coast, scattered with hidden coves before arriving at the beach at CALA DI PARAGAN beach.
- Plage de Paragan (to La Madonette) 1h15 / 3.5km
From the far end of PARAGAN beach, take the rising mule track with YELLOW up the valley, after 700m, you turn right, you will see a crumbled BARACCU (round stone shepherds hut) along the path. Continue on this path all the way along this other valley before dropping down the white cliffs to the creak and beach at FAZZIO. Take the path on the other end of the beach up the valley again, the path climbs gently before switching back right towards the sea, with views over the ILE DE FAZZIO. As the path rounds the headland views now again open up towards SARDINIA and BONIFACIO. You follow the coastal path towards the Lighthouse LA MADONETTE.
- La Madonette (to Bonifacio harbour) 1h15 / 3.5km
When roughly level with the lighthouse, continue along the path, seemingly inland, towards the left. You soon have views of BONIFACIO harbour to your right before heading into woodland, and meeting the mule track you were on earlier. Turn right here, (you will see a low post) keeping along this track between stone walls, typical of the area, before dropping down to the main road into town by the campsite. Turn right at the road, pass the service station and the harbour is in front of you.
